NIGERIA: Sanwo-Olu Rallies APC Aspirants Ahead of Lagos LG Elections
By Ameenat Hamzat, Lagos, Nigeria
As Lagos State gears up for the July 12 Local Government Elections, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to meet with key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a strategic engagement aimed at consolidating the party’s grassroots strength.
The meeting, scheduled to take place at the State House in Marina, will bring together APC leaders, elected officials, and all candidates contesting under the party’s platform for the upcoming polls. The state APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, confirmed the parley in a statement released on Sunday.
Oladejo described the gathering as a critical mobilisation effort designed to unify the party’s campaign structure and energize its political machinery across all 57 local government areas and 376 wards.
He stated: “This parley serves as the rallying point for mobilising our troops and reasserting the party’s dominance ahead of the elections.”
The Lagos APC expressed confidence that the party’s track record at the local government level, especially in education, primary healthcare, housing, and community interventions, will earn voters’ trust and support at the ballot.
This move follows the formal presentation of party flags to its 57 chairmanship and 376 councillorship candidates during a campaign flag-off event held on Tuesday at the APC Secretariat in Ogba.
