The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes, have carried out coordinated security operations across Katsina and Kebbi States.
These efforts led to the neutralization of several armed bandits, the arrest of key informants, and the successful rescue of a kidnapped university student.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who stated that the operations took place on April 10, 2025, in multiple locations across Katsina State.
The statement reads: “At about 4:15 AM, a joint security team led by police operatives ambushed a group of suspected armed bandits along a known route in Dutsen Wori village, Dandume Local Government Area,” the statement said. “Five bandits were neutralized, and seven operational motorcycles were recovered from the scene.”
It was also added that in a separate but related operation at about 7:00 AM the same day, the team, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the villages of Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo in Danmusa LGA. A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the dislodging of a bandit hideout.
Adejobi further noted: “Three suspected informants were arrested for allegedly providing logistical support to the criminals,” Adejobi added. “Security personnel also recovered two additional motorcycles and two bicycles used in their operations.”
In Kebbi State, the Nigeria Police also recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping. A 23-year-old Economics student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), Augustine Madubiya, who was kidnapped on April 8, 2025, was rescued by a combined team of police operatives and vigilantes during a raid in Dakingari forest, Kalgo LGA.
Commending the success of the operations, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, hailed the efforts of the operatives and their collaborators.
“These operations are a testament to our commitment to rid the nation of violent criminals,” Egbetokun said. “We commend the bravery and professionalism of the security personnel involved, and we remain committed to protecting lives and property across the country.”
He also stressed the value of community collaboration in enhancing security efforts:
“Local intelligence and the support of residents continue to be critical in our fight against crime. We urge citizens to stay vigilant and cooperate with security forces.”
