NIGERIA: Police Raid Illegal Weapons Factory In Benue, Arrests In Delta, Kebbi

The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has intensified its efforts to combat crime, with a series of successful operations leading to arrests and the recovery of weapons.
This was disclosed in a press release by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, on Friday.
On January 11, 2025, police operatives uncovered an illegal weapons manufacturing factory in Tse Akamabe, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
The raid resulted in the arrest of two suspects, Friday Aduduakambe and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as “AK,” aged 35.
Recovered from the factory were nine locally fabricated pistols, one unfinished locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, gas cylinders, vise machines, filing machines, and other tools used for weapons production.
In Delta State, police officers acting on credible intelligence raided the home of a notorious member of the Eiye Confraternity, Prosper Akeni, aged 32.
Akeni, identified as a hitman for the cult group, was found in possession of an English revolver pistol, a Beretta pistol, two locally made double-barrel guns, three locally made pistols, and 25 rounds of ammunition.
Akeni confessed that the recovered weapons belonged to his cult group, where he served as its leader.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, two suspects were arrested in connection with separate murder cases. On December 31, 2024, 25-year-old Yunusa Haruna fatally stabbed his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, during a dispute in Bakin Turu Village, Shanga Local Government Area.
In another incident, Abubakar Ummar was arrested in Zuru Village on January 8, 2025, for fatally stabbing Mohammed Bala during an argument.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the officers for their efforts and urged them to continue intensifying operations to restore security across the country.
He also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information to support community-based policing initiatives.
