Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Wednesday disclosed that he met with the leadership of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, under the chairmanship of Oba Oladipo Olaitan.
He noted that the meeting also involved leaders of other ethnic-based groups including the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and the Middle Belt Forum.
Obi, in a statement issued on Wednesday, expressed gratitude to the groups for their consistent advocacy for justice and unity in Nigeria, describing their stance as courageous and patriotic.
He urged them to continue in their efforts to promote fairness and inclusiveness in the nation’s affairs.
The former Anambra State governor revealed that their discussions focused on the country’s pressing challenges, particularly in education, healthcare, and poverty reduction.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building an inclusive and united Nigeria where every region would have a sense of belonging. “A new Nigeria is possible,” Obi declared.
