NIGERIA: PEBEC Engages Interior Minister Over Visa On Arrival Policy Cancellation

By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), has assured stakeholders that it is actively engaging with the Minister of Interior to address concerns arising from the recent cancellation of Nigeria’s Visa on Arrival (VOA) policy.
Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, the Director General of PEBEC, stated in a press release on Monday that while the council understands the anxiety caused by the decision, efforts are underway to find a balanced solution that enhances security while maintaining the VOA system.
“Our primary objective is to strengthen security around the VOA process while maintaining the policy, which has been instrumental in promoting tourism, trade, and investment in Nigeria.
“We believe that with collaboration and dialogue, we can address the security issues identified and achieve a secure and efficient VOA process that benefits all parties involved,” the statement read.
The PEBEC boss further highlighted the council’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s business environment, citing ongoing reforms that simplify procedures, reduce bottlenecks, and attract investment.
“We urge the foreign community to remain calm and confident in our ability to resolve this matter. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Nigeria remains an attractive destination for investors, tourists, and businesses alike,” she added.
PEBEC has been at the forefront of driving business-friendly policies in Nigeria, working closely with government agencies to enhance the ease of doing business.
The council’s intervention in the VOA matter underscores its role in ensuring that government policies do not hinder economic growth and international engagement.
