The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued a public disclaimer alerting Nigerians to fraudulent employment schemes circulating in its name.
The Authority said some individuals are targeting young and economically vulnerable Nigerians, offering bogus “Letters of Employment” and promising non-existent positions.
The statement was signed by George Ene-Ita, Director, Public Affairs Department, NMDPRA, and shared via the Authority’s verified handle, @NMDPRA_Official.
It reads: “These may well be the handiwork of fake recruitment syndicates established to mastermind these fraudulent activities.”
The Authority emphasized that it is not conducting any recruitment exercise at the moment.
“Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment into its services at any level. For the avoidance of doubt, any future recruitment exercise would be undertaken in accordance with extant rules guiding such exercises in the Nigerian Public Service,” the statement added.
The NMDPRA urged the public to ignore spurious claims by unscrupulous individuals whose goal is to defraud Nigerians. It also advised Nigerians seeking information on the Authority’s activities to consult its official website, nmdpra.gov.ng, and verified social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn,
and Instagram.
