NIGERIA: Nigeria Condemns Israeli Strike On Iran, Calls For Immediate Ceasefire
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned the preemptive strike by Israel on Iran.
Nigeria warned that the rising hostilities between the two nations could destabilize the broader Middle East.

This was made known in a statement released on Saturday signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the statement, Nigeria expressed grave concern over the sustained missile and aerial exchanges between Israel and Iran, and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The government urged both countries to show maximum restraint, noting that the cycle of retaliation threatens civilian lives and poses serious risks to regional and global stability.
Nigeria emphasized its commitment to peaceful coexistence, non-aggression, and multilateral diplomacy, stressing that dialogue must be prioritized over confrontation.
It also called on the United Nations Security Council and the broader international community to intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions and encourage constructive engagement.
“Military action is not a substitute for negotiation. The path to lasting peace lies in diplomacy, mutual respect, and adherence to international law, ” the statement said.
Nigeria reiterated its willingness to support any genuine initiative aimed at restoring calm and promoting peace in the region.
