NIGERIA: NDLEA Raises Alarm Over Rising Abuse Of Substances Among Youths

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has raised concerns following recent drug seizures in Lagos and Kano, revealing the alarming misuse of hazardous substances among youths, often disguised under unsettling street names.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, shared a video showcasing the seized substances on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
The confiscated items include New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and others with disturbing names such as Suck & Die, Rubber Solution, Dead Man, and Gelato.
Babafemi called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to stay alert and proactive in recognising and tackling these dangerous trends within their environments.
“Narco-trend update: Parents, shine your eyes 👀! Latest seizures by @ndlea_nigeria officers in Lagos and Kano reveal scary names of some substances, including NPS, we should all watch out for in our homes and communities: Suck & die, Rubber solution, Dead man, Gelato,”he wrote.
