The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has declared its plan to auction 15,325 liters of seized petrol, valued at N27.5 million, at N400 per liter to help ease the transportation challenges Nigerians are facing, particularly during the festive season.
This announcement was made on Saturday by the National Coordinator of the Service Operation, Hussein Ejibunu, during a press briefing at the Customs Training of College in Ikeja, Lagos.
Ejibunu disclosed that the confiscated Petrol worth N27.5 million was seized from several operations in Lagos and Ogun state.
He further explained that the Controller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has authorized the auction with N10,000 set for 25 liters container.
Ejibunu stated that all legal procedures and requirements have been finalized, including a court condemnation order by the office of the legal advisor to facilitate the auction.
“This operation, which began on May 27, 2024, has delivered positive results,” Ejibunu said.
“The Comptroller-General has directed the operatives to sustain this momentum until the activities of economic saboteurs are completely eradicated in the country,” he added.
He said: “In line with this directive, the CGC has approved the auctioning of the seized petrol to the public at a rate of ₦10,000 per 25 liters.
This measure aims to alleviate transportation difficulties during the festive period.”
