Nigeria – Minister Of Interior Inaugurates Panel To Investigate Bobrisky’s Allegations Against NCoS

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has inaugurated an independent panel to investigate allegations made against the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) by Nigerian crossdresser, Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Recall that a phone recording of Bobrisky was leaked by social media activist, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, where it was alleged that Bobrisky served his sentence in an apartment close to an NCoS facility.
Following the leaked recording, the House of Representatives has initiated a probe into the matter, along with other government agencies launching their own investigations into the allegations.
Reqcting to this, the independent investigative panel set by the Minister was inaugurated on Monday and tasked with investigating specific claims of corruption, torture, and mistreatment of inmates by correctional officers, particularly focusing on the allegations involving Bobrisky.
According to the Minister, the investigation into Bobrisky’s allegations will be completed within two weeks.
He emphasised that the panel is expected to provide a clear path forward, with its findings to be made public, while stressing that no one will be protected from scrutiny, regardless of their status.
The panel is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani. Other members include Omotese Eva (Mrs.), Director of Legal; Nasir Usman, Director of Joint Services; Dr. Uju Agomoh, President of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) and former Board Member of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA); and Dr. Ikechukwu Ezeugo, a Human Rights Radio consultant, forensic researcher, and social impact expert with over 27 years of corporate leadership experience.
