Nigeria: Minister Of Aviation Appeals To Aviation Workers Union To Reconsider Planned Protest

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has appealed to the Aviation Workers Union to reconsider their planned peaceful protest scheduled for 18th, September.
The Minister made this known in a statement issued on Thursday, acknowledging the concerns raised regarding the government’s deduction of 50% of internally generated revenue (IGR) at source.
Keyamo assured the union and all stakeholders that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking the matter seriously and is working diligently to find a resolution.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the aviation sector continues to operate efficiently and safely.
The Minister also announced that a meeting has been scheduled for 17th September 2024 to address the union’s concerns.
He described the meeting as a platform for open discussion and an opportunity for the President to comprehensively address the union’s issues.
Keyamo expressed his appreciation to the unions for their patience and understanding, assuring them that their voices are being heard and their concerns are being addressed.
