Nigeria – Luxury Amidst Hardship: Sowore Accuses Tinubu’s Administration Of Purchasing Presidential Jet Worth Billions Of Naira
By Utebor Paul, Nigeria
Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate under the platform of the African Action Congress in the 2023 general election, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of acquiring a presidential jet worth $100 million.
Recall that there has been outrage on social media and condemnation by Nigerians over the recommendation by the House of Representatives, pushing for the purchase of a new presidential jet for President Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
According to them, the aircraft in the Presidential Fleet are not functional.
Speaking through his “X” account, Sowore noted that the amount was not captured in the annual budget, and the jet is already set for delivery.
He said: “While they are telling you to ‘exercise patience’ @officialABAT already bought a $100m Presidential Jet and configured or reconfigured it with some $ 50 million, and it is ready for delivery! The jet is an A330-200 initially christened VP-CAC is now registered as 5N-FGA.
“This was not in the annual budget, they can’t pay minimum wage for workers, but could afford $150m for a private jet. Students have to obtain loans to go to college, but they could afford to approve billions for hajj even as the money/ies ended up being stolen. Fight we MUST!”
