NIGERIA: LASU Best Graduating Student Receives N10 Million From Lagos Government

The Lagos State Government has awarded N10 million to the best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The recipient, Miss Isioma Sybil Nwosu, a first-class graduate of Biochemistry, received the award on Wednesday at the office of the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, at the Secretariat, Alausa.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Sule said the reward reflects the Sanwo-Olu administration’s continued commitment to promoting academic excellence, research, and scholarship across tertiary institutions in the state.
He noted that the state government is determined to produce globally competitive graduates and implements its reward policies without discrimination.
“This gesture reinforces our commitment to merit-based recognition, regardless of the recipient’s state of origin,” the Commissioner said.
He further encouraged Miss Nwosu to remain focused and serve as a role model to other students in the state.
In her remarks, Miss Nwosu expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the gesture. Accompanied by her mother, she described the reward as a major support for her future academic plans.
She said: “I sincerely thank Governor Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Government. This recognition has strengthened my resolve to pursue my education further.”
Miss Nwosu, who hails from Aniocha in Delta State, described Lagos as a welcoming state, noting that the government’s support proves that hard work and excellence are rewarded irrespective of background.
