Former Kano State Governor and National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has described NNPP as the fastest-growing political party in the country.
He made this statement on Monday during the 7th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja.
Kwankwaso, expressing satisfaction with the progress of the NNPP, stating that the party’s achievements have drawn envy and attacks both from within and outside.
He noted that despite challenges, the NNPP continues to grow rapidly, positioning itself as a strong force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Our party has been doing so well to the extent that we at the level of leadership are satisfied with our progress,” Kwankwaso said. “And of course, that will always go with envy outside our party, go with many attacks from within and more importantly outside the party,” he said.
Citing a recent visit to Katsina State to inaugurate the NNPP’s state office, Kwankwaso referred to his earlier remarks about the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He reiterated that the PDP is now in decline, claiming the party is “dead” and imploding.
“I’m sure while I was making that statement, many of them did not see what is happening today that the party is being made into pieces,” he said. “The party is imploding, and therefore if they didn’t understand that time, now I think they would agree with all of us that the party was dead.”
The former governor also took aim at the All-Progressives Congress (APC), accusing its leadership of being disconnected from the realities on the ground. He criticized the ruling party’s handling of security, poverty, and hunger in the country.
“At that level, whether they believe they are doing well, but all of us, especially the voters in this country, believe they are performing very, very badly, especially if you look at the issue of security, the level of poverty in the country and of course the issue of hunger that we’re witnessing in this country,” Kwankwaso said.
He expressed optimism about the future of the NNPP, crediting the party’s upward trajectory to divine favor.
“So, thank God that the two parties are both going down and our party, the NNPP is going up. We thank Almighty God for that,” Kwankwaso concluded.
