Kogi State is set to host President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as he visits the Confluence State on Monday, January 27, 2025, to commission several landmark projects executed by the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
This event coincides with the celebration of Governor Ododo’s one-year anniversary in office, marking a period of impactful governance and transformative achievements.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, fondly referred to as the Chief Servant of Kogi State, assumed office on January 27, 2024, after emerging victorious in the gubernatorial election held on November 11, 2023.
Running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ododo triumphed in a keenly contested election, consolidating the legacy of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
Since taking the reins of leadership, Governor Ododo has prioritised infrastructure development, improved welfare for civil servants, and youth empowerment.
His administration’s achievements include the construction of key internal roads in Lokoja, the establishment of a military base in Baganna to enhance security, and the prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
Governor Ododo also approved the implementation of the minimum wage for workers, further demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of Kogi’s workforce.
The administration recently flagged off the payment of bursaries to indigent students, ensuring access to education for underprivileged youths.
Additionally, Ododo’s government has been lauded for its efforts to consolidate the gains of Yahaya Bello’s tenure, fostering continuity and progress across various sectors.
In a statement issued by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, on Sunday, the state expressed its excitement and readiness to receive President Tinubu. “Mr. President, Kogi State is your home, and we welcome you with open arms as you join in celebrating one year of impact under the leadership of your son, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Servant of Kogi State,” the statement read.
The commissioning ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries from across the country, as the people of Kogi State reflect on a year of remarkable progress under Governor Ododo’s administration.
