NIGERIA: Kogi CP Visits Derailed Train Site, Orders Deployment To Protect Passengers

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property following a train derailment incident at Adogo in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner gave the assurance during an on-the-spot assessment of the scene on Monday, where he met with officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and stranded passengers. He described the incident as unfortunate and directed the immediate deployment of police personnel to secure the area and ensure the safety of passengers and railway property.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya, the Commissioner also ordered additional security to guard the derailed coaches and monitor the evacuation of all passengers to Ajaokuta station.
CP Kankarofi emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in managing emergencies and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to work with other security agencies to maintain peace and protect critical infrastructure across Kogi State.
