NIGERIA: Kano Police Arrest three suspects with N129bn fake currencies

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three persons for being in possession of fake currencies amounting to N129 billion.
This was made known by the Kano State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa who confirmed the arrest to the press on Tuesday
Kiyawa gave a breakdown of the money seized which includes US Dollars, CFA and Naira, among other currencies stolen from another dealer of foreign currencies.
He noted: “Counterfeit currencies equivalent to a total sum of N129bn were recovered”.
The PPRO gave a breakdown of the fake currencies as $3,366,000, CFA51,970,000 and N1,443,000.
Kiyawa further stated that the two people arrested with the fake money and the individual from whom they were stolen have been arrested and are currently in police custody, as investigation is currently to discover actual producers of the counterfeit money.
