NIGERIA: Kano Governor Abba Hails President Tinubu For Approving ₦334 Billion Kano–Kongolom Road Upgrade

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the massive review and upgrade of the Kano–Kongolom Road project at a total cost of ₦334 billion.
The governor described the decision by the Federal Executive Council as a historic breakthrough that will transform the state’s road infrastructure and solidify Kano’s position as the commercial and logistics hub of Northern Nigeria
In a statement issued by his spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf explained that the redesigned project will cover 132 kilometers and feature a three-lane concrete carriageway equipped with solar-powered street lights and modern CCTV surveillance systems.
The corridor, which links Kano with Jigawa and Katsina States, is one of the most strategic economic routes in the North-West and serves as a vital gateway for trade, agriculture, and industrial activities.
The governor highlighted that the scale of the investment reflects President Tinubu’s strong commitment to the development of Kano State and the entire North-West region.
He stated that the project will open new economic frontiers for farmers, traders, and transporters while significantly reducing travel time and enhancing road safety for users.
Governor Yusuf also praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for championing quality infrastructure delivery and ensuring that the Kano project received priority attention at the federal level.
He assured that the Kano State Government will provide full cooperation and create an enabling environment for contractors to facilitate smooth execution and timely completion of the project.
The governor noted that the initiative will generate employment opportunities, stimulate investment, and further strengthen Kano’s status as a regional commercial powerhouse.
He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain engagement with the Federal Government on projects that directly improve the living standards of Kano citizens, describing the approval as a direct outcome of the Kano First Agenda aligned with the
Renewed Hope Agenda.
