Nigeria Issues New Practice Directions To Boost Aviation Sector, Complies With Cape Town Convention
By Utebor Paul, Nigeria
Nigeria has achieved a significant milestone by issuing new Federal High Court practice directives aimed at improving compliance with the Cape Town Convention, a global treaty that regulates international aviation standards.
This move places Nigeria among the few nations committed to the smooth implementation of the convention, which is crucial for the growth of the aviation sector.
The development was announced on Thursday, 12th of September, at the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) meeting, presided over by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima.
This initiative is a key element of the Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo’s 5-Point Agenda, designed to support the expansion of local airlines.
The new practice directions are expected to eliminate legal hurdles that have hindered the sector, thereby boosting investor confidence, reducing the cost of aircraft acquisition, and creating new opportunities for Nigerian air operators.
With this move, the nation’s aviation sector is poised for rapid growth, generating more jobs and strengthening Nigeria’s global presence in the industry.
Appreciation was extended to all stakeholders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Attorney-General, for their roles in making this achievement possible.
