NIGERIA: INEC Reaffirms Neutrality As Labour Party Submits Supreme Court Judgement

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, reiterated its commitment to neutrality and the rule of law, following a visit by a delegation of the Labour Party led by Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
The delegation visited the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja and submitted a Certified True Copy of the recent Supreme Court judgment relating to the party’s leadership.
INEC’s Acting Chairman, Mr. Sam Olumekun, who received the delegation along with other National Commissioners, emphasized the Commission’s constitutional responsibility to remain transparent and impartial in political matters.
Governor Otti noted that the purpose of the visit was to promote clarity and institutional alignment with respect to the Labour Party’s internal structure.
The meeting reflected both parties’ interest in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening democratic processes.
