The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) as part of its early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The committee, chaired by INEC National Commissioner Prof. Rhoda H. Gumus, held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the INEC Conference Hall in Abuja.
Its primary task is to develop a strategic framework to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
The committee’s responsibilities include reviewing its Terms of Reference, developing a work plan, forming sub-committees, designing an Elections Project Plan (EPP) template, and setting timelines for planning document submissions.
Among the National Commissioners present at the inauguration were Mr. Kenneth Ukeagu (Chair, Tenders Board), Dr. Baba Bila (Chair, EOLC), Mr. Sam Olumekun (Chair, EPMC), and Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru (Chair, BEI).
Prof. Gumus emphasized the importance of early preparations in strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process and urged committee members to carry out their duties diligently to uphold electoral integrity and transparency.
