The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced a fresh increase in the cost of obtaining Nigerian passports, effective September 1, 2025.
In a statement signed on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the NIS said the new fees will apply only to passport applications processed within Nigeria.
Under the new regime, the 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity will be issued at N200,000.
The Service, however, clarified that the fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year passport and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year booklet.
According to the statement, the adjustment is aimed at sustaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring continued accessibility for citizens.
This latest hike comes just a year after the Federal Government approved an earlier increase in August 2024, which took effect from September 1, 2024. At the time, the 32-page passport rose from N35,000 to N50,000, while the 64-page 10-year booklet increased from N70,000 to N100,000.
The Immigration Service explained that the new increment, like the previous one, is necessary to maintain the standards of the Nigerian passport and improve service delivery.
