As Christians in Nigeria and around the globe prepare to celebrate Easter, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended warm felicitations to the Christian faithful.
He urged them to embrace the season’s message of hope, renewal, and sacrifice.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP emphasized the importance of Easter and encouraged Christians to use the occasion to foster peace, unity, and goodwill within their communities.
To ensure a safe and secure environment for the celebrations, the IGP has directed Commissioners of Police across all state commands and formations, along with their supervising Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, to implement enhanced visibility policing, intelligence gathering, and extended vigilance.
These measures aim to prevent crime and ensure swift response to any potential security threats.
Strategic deployment of police personnel to churches, recreation centres, major highways, and other public areas has also been ordered, with the IGP stressing the importance of proactive patrols during the festivities.
The IGP further urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies by sharing credible information that could help prevent any breakdown of law and order.
He also appealed to citizens to exercise moderation and drive responsibly throughout the holiday period.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring a peaceful and crime-free Easter celebration for all. May the spirit of Easter bring peace, joy, and blessings to all,” the statement read.
The statement concludes with a renewed assurance from the Police Force of its dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians during the festive period and beyond.
