NIGERIA: Gunmen Attack Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family Home In Kogi

By Ameenat Hamzat, Lagos, Nigeria
Armed men on Tuesday night attacked the ancestral home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State.
The senator, who represents Kogi Central, raised the alarm through a statement released by her media team in Abuja on Thursday.
The building, which belongs to her late grandfather, was reportedly vandalized during the invasion. However, security personnel and local residents quickly responded, repelling the attack and preventing further damage.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan disclosed that her younger brother had earlier taken some contractors to inspect sites for new projects in the area.
She stated: “The attackers apparently mistook my brother’s visit for mine and struck that night. No lives were lost, and the incident has been reported to the police area command.”
The senator also called on the Inspector General of Police to reinstate her security details.
The senator’s team further appealed to the public to stay calm and support ongoing efforts to ensure justice, emphasizing that her service to the community should not be met with violence or intimidation
