Nigeria – Governor Sanwo-Olu, Predecessor Ambode Meet, Discuss Future of Lagos
Onoja Baba, Abuja, Nigeria
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hosted his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the State House in Lagos on Monday.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, disclosed the details of the meeting in a post on X.com. Akosile highlighted that the courtesy visit facilitated extensive discussions between Sanwo-Olu and Ambode, focusing on the progress and future of Lagos State. Akosile wrote, “Today, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received his predecessor in office, HE Akinwunmi Ambode, who came on a courtesy visit. The two leaders held a deep conversation around the development of Lagos State, her economic trajectory, and position as a socio-political stabilizer in the subregion.”
According to the Adviser, the meeting marks a continued effort to foster collaboration among Lagos’s leadership for the advancement of the state.
Akosile emphasized that Governor Sanwo-Olu continues to receive support and encouragement from well-meaning Lagosians and Nigerians. The governor’s handling of various aspects of development, including security, economy, culture, and tourism, has been well-received.
This recent engagement follows a pattern of growing camaraderie among Lagos’s political elite. In June, Governor Sanwo-Olu attended Ambode’s 60th birthday party, and the same month saw Sanwo-Olu, Ambode, and former Governor Babatunde Fashola join in a reception organized in honor of President Bola Tinubu. This event was particularly notable as it marked the first time since Ambode left office in 2019 that all four governors of the state since 1999 were seen together at a public event.
