NIGERIA: Gov Fubara Invites Wike’s ‘Backed Speaker’, Rivers Assembly Members Discussion

The Governor of Rivers State has invited pro Nwesom Wike’s speaker and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for a crucial meeting following the recent Supreme Court judgment affecting the state’s legislative and governance landscape.
The invitation, conveyed in a letter dated March 7, 2025, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo.
Addressed to Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, the Speaker, the letter outlined key agenda, including provisions for a befitting space for Assembly sittings, payment of outstanding allowances, and the presentation of the state budget.
Other relevant matters necessary for advancing governance in the state will also be discussed.
The meeting is scheduled to hold on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10 a.m., at the Office of the Governor, Government House, Port Harcourt.
The invitation comes after the governor acknowledged receiving the Supreme Court judgment, signaling a move towards reconciliation and stability in the state’s political affairs.
The Rivers State Government has expressed optimism that the discussions will provide a roadmap for legislative and executive collaboration in the best interest of the state’s development and its people.
