NIGERIA: Funke Akindele’s ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ Hits ₦1 Billion

One of Nigeria’s most accomplished actresses and box office stars, Funke Akindele, has reached another milestone as her latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, grossed over ₦1 billion in just 19 days.
Funke announced the achievement on her Instagram page on Monday, revealing that the film has become the second Nollywood movie to surpass the ₦1 billion mark within a year, with a cumulative total of ₦1,034,091,220.
The movie is also recognized as the fastest Nollywood title to reach the ₦1 billion threshold, achieving the feat within three weeks.
Funke highlighted that the film’s success further solidifies her position as the highest-grossing producer and director in Nollywood, with four of her movies ranking among the highest-grossing Nollywood films.
Expressing her gratitude to her fans, Funke said, “Thank you, Jenifans, for supporting Everybody Loves Jenifa! We couldn’t have gotten here without you.”
She added, “We’re excited about what’s to come with this massive win. Keep watching in all cinemas nationwide!”
Everybody Loves Jenifa has not only been a success in Nigeria but also internationally. Eight days after its international debut, Funke announced that the movie earned an impressive $194,560 (approximately ₦300 million) in box office revenue from various countries outside Africa, including the UK, US, Canada, and other regions.
