NIGERIA: Fubara Resurfaces In Public After Suspension, Attends Church Service In Port Harcourt

By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made his first public appearance since his controversial suspension from office.
On Sunday, Fubara was spotted at the headquarters of Salvation Ministries in GRA, Port Harcourt, where he attended a church service alongside his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie.
His appearance comes just days after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, citing escalating political tensions and security concerns.
The emergency declaration led to the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and all members of the State House of Assembly, a decision that has sparked widespread debate over its legality and implications for democracy.
Tinubu subsequently appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) as the Sole Administrator of the state for six months, effectively sidelining the elected government.
While Fubara has yet to make any official statement on his suspension, his attendance at the church service is seen as a significant public gesture amid the ongoing political crisis.
