NIGERIA: Fire Ravages Alaba Rago Market, Destroys Goods Worth Millions

One of Lagos’s big markets, Alaba Rago market, Ojo, Lagos, caught fire in the early hours of today, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, Femi Oke-Osayintolu, disclosed this to the press, stating that the fire started around midnight.
However, as at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire has not been discovered, however, Oke-Osayintolu revealed, that the LASEMA team quickly went to the market following a distress call, activated their emergency response plan, and deployed their team from Igando to handle the situation.
He asserted that the authority activated the state’s emergency response plan and sent their team from Igando to arrest the situation.
He added that firefighters from the state Fire and Rescue Service, with LASEMA and other emergency workers, worked effortlessly together to put out the flames.
The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye and Oke-Osayintolu noted that the fire was brought under control and was prevented from spreading to other properties.
