The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement through a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Monday.
The minister extended festive greetings to Nigerians, urging them to embrace the love, peace, and unity during this season.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he said.
He encouraged Nigerians to strengthen family and community bonds, emphasising the importance of unity and harmony to national development.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to Nigerians’ welfare, Tunji-Ojo stated, that the Federal government will ensure peace and security across the nation.
“Federal Government is committed to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation,” he noted.
