The Federal Government has commissioned multiple education infrastructure projects in Borno State as part of its ongoing effort to expand access to quality learning across underserved and conflict-affected communities.
The development was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, in a statement shared on his official X handle, following an official visit to the state.
During the visit, the Federal Government also formally handed over the host flag for the 2026 National Council of Education to the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The newly commissioned projects include the ISDB Bilingual Education Boarding School in Ngarannam, schools in Briyel and Kullugumna, as well as the Government Day Secondary School in Kaleri-Zannari.
The projects were delivered through collaboration between the Federal Government, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), the Borno State Government and development partners.
Speaking on the significance of the projects, the Minister of Education described education as central to peace-building and national development.
The minister said: “Education is not just a service; it is a peace-building tool and a foundation for national prosperity. Every classroom built strengthens our collective future.”
He explained that the interventions align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Reform and Innovation (NESRI) reforms, which prioritise strengthening basic education, improving teacher quality, expanding digital learning and providing safe learning environments.
The minister described Borno State as a symbol of resilience and commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his sustained commitment to rebuilding the education sector despite years of insecurity.
“Borno remains a symbol of resilience, and we commend His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for his unwavering commitment to rebuilding education,” he said.
He also highlighted achievements under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, noting the construction of new schools, rehabilitation of facilities, community engagement and empowerment programmes for girls.
The Minister further acknowledged the role of the Universal Basic Education Commission in expanding classrooms, strengthening quality assurance and improving access to education for vulnerable children.
On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the minister formally commissioned the schools, describing the projects as critical investments in peace, stability and Nigeria’s future.
