The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and murdered, clarifying that preliminary investigations indicate otherwise.
In a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Tuesday, the command explained that Parradang was found dead in a hotel room in Abuja, with no immediate signs pointing to abduction or foul play.
According to the police, Parradang had checked into Joy House Hotel, located at Area 3 Junction, around noon on March 3, 2025.
He arrived at the hotel driving a black Mercedes Benz and paid ₦22,000 for a one-night stay.
Shortly after checking in, the retired immigration chief directed a hotel staff member to escort a female guest to his room.
The unidentified woman reportedly left the premises around 4:00 PM that same day, after which Parradang did not leave his room again.
Concerned for his welfare, a military officer who was a friend of Parradang’s visited the hotel at approximately 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025.
After alerting the hotel staff, the officer accompanied the receptionist to Parradang’s room, where they discovered him lifeless, seated in a chair.
The incident was promptly reported to Durumi Police Station, and officers were dispatched to the scene to secure the area, document evidence, and ensure the preservation of the crime scene.
Parradang’s body has since been transported to the National Hospital for further examination, while police have launched efforts to locate and arrest the female guest.
The FCT Police Command cautioned members of the public and the media against circulating unverified reports, especially claims of kidnapping and murder, which could cause unnecessary panic.
The command assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding Parradang’s death.
The police urged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice.
