A supporter of social media influencer, Martins ‘VeryDarkMan’ Otse, has dismissed claims made by embattled crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, regarding a controversial leaked audio.
The fan, Ugbede Victor Akpa, took to Facebook to explain how Bobrisky’s lawsuit threat against VeryDarkMan may be easily disproved, suggesting the case is weak and ill-advised.
In his post, Akpa argued that all it takes for the individual in the United States to invalidate Bobrisky’s claims is to approach a U.S. court to request call logs from his service provider.
According to Akpa, this would quickly clear up any uncertainty surrounding the alleged conversation between Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan.
Akpa wrote, “The Bobrisky lawsuit for N1 billion and demand for an apology is a joke taken too far. Either his lawyer is an ‘ode’ (fool) or they know the truth but are just trying to ‘cash out’. The funny thing is that all it takes is for the guy in the U.S. to request call logs from his service provider, and the case would be closed.”
Akpa also criticized the Nigerian trend of filing frivolous lawsuits, remarking that some individuals view courts as tools of oppression rather than justice.
This follows a leaked audio recording, published by VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky allegedly details his six-month prison term and interactions with government officials, including accusations that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) dropped money laundering charges against him after receiving N15 million, reported by African Culture TV.
Following the audio’s release, Bobrisky issued a cease-and-desist notice through his legal team, R.T. Omuvwie and Co., accusing VeryDarkMan of using artificial intelligence (AI) to manipulate the recording and defame him.
Bobrisky’s lawyers demanded that the audio be removed, alongside public apologies and N1 billion in damages for reputational harm. They further warned that failure to comply would lead to legal action.
Bobrisky’s claims of AI manipulation and the subsequent legal threat have since sparked widespread debate, with government agencies and the Nigerian House of Representatives opening investigations into the allegations raised in the leaked audio.
