Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that he informed ex-President Muhammadu Buhari before defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Speaking to BBC Hausa on issues bothering on his defection, El-Rufai said he consulted Buhari about his decision, emphasizing that he always seeks advice from key political figures.
He cited APC’s abandonment of its founding principles and governance becoming a “business enterprise” as reasons for his departure.
Despite expressing surprise at President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, El-Rufai said he had no regrets supporting him in 2023, stating that his decision was based on ensuring fairness in the country’s political structure.
The former Governor of Kaduna state left APC for SDP last week accusing the government of sidelining him.
