Nigeria – EFCC Condemns Unauthorized Use of Operational Gear in Skits
By Utebor Paul, Nigeria
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has strongly condemned the unauthorized use of its operational gear by skit makers, following the resurgence of an old video titled “EFCC and Army Wahala” on social media.
In a statement released by the Commission, on Monday through it’s X account, the EFCC warned against the illegal and irresponsible depiction of its officers in such skits.
The video, which caricatures EFCC operatives, shows them allegedly terrorizing suspects, a portrayal the Commission described as both embarrassing and damaging to its image.
The EFCC reiterated that its operatives are trained professionals who conduct their duties with civility, decency, and respect for the public, including those under investigation for economic and financial crimes.
The Commission emphasized that these false portrayals create a misleading narrative about its operations.
The Commission once again cautioned skit makers and social content creators to refrain from using its operational attire without authorization, stating that such acts undermine the integrity of the institution.
