NIGERIA: Don Jazzy Gifts Woman ₦6m After Viral Social Media Post

Popular Nigerian music producer, Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, on Thursday gifted a woman ₦6 million after discovering she had only ₦67.29 in her bank account.
The generous act, which has since sparked excitement across social media, began with a trending post on X.com (formerly Twitter), asking users to tag a celebrity who could potentially gift them ₦1 million.
Responding to the trend, Adeyemi Adejoke Abidemi, who tweets as #PopoolaJoke4, tagged Don Jazzy and wrote, “Make I tag #DONJAZZY. I dey always dream about him. Happy new month sir.”
The Mavin Records boss replied, “Akant namba,” prompting Adejoke to share her GTBank account details.
Shortly after, she posted a screenshot of a ₦1 million credit alert, expressing her gratitude. “Jesuuuuuusssssssss, this is huge,” she wrote. “Receiving ₦1 million is beyond anything I expected… God bless you abundantly sir.”
Moved by her earlier account balance of just ₦67.29, Don Jazzy followed up with an additional ₦5 million. “Amen ooo. That your akant balance is not healthy. I don add another 5 million. More blessings ma,” he said.
Confirming the second transfer, Adeyemi shared another screenshot, now showing a ₦6 million balance. She responded with heartfelt appreciation:
She wrote: “I am deeply grateful for this extraordinary blessing… May your hands never lack, your heart always be at peace, and your generations forever enjoy divine favour.”
In response to a critic who questioned her financial status, she clarified:
“None of my accounts get 1 naira, I can screenshot all for you, only GTBank get 67 naira.”
Meanwhile, fellow artist Crown Uzama, aka Shallipopi, also joined the giveaway spree by transferring ₦1 million each to two fans while promoting his latest album.
“Summer is coming, ready your shorts and bikinis… Don’t forget to take a lil speaker,” Shallipopi posted on X.
One fan, Samuel Uchechukwu Ifesinachi, tweeted, “Summer is coming, still broke as hell. Money to buy speaker no dey.”
Shallipopi responded, “Imma send u a million if you promise to get yourself a very big JBL,” and followed up with a screenshot confirming the payment.
Another fan, Anirah Gabriel, reminded the singer of an earlier chat where he had asked, “How much you fit chop?” Gabriel replied, “Shock me, papi,” prompting another ₦1 million transfer.
