Nigerian music executive and Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, has pledged ₦20 million to support a youth empowerment project aimed at providing 10,000 laptops to young Nigerians.
The initiative, known as “The Tech Access Project,” was launched by a social impact advocate, Ayilola Ayotomiwa, who shared his vision on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The project seeks to empower Nigerian youths with laptops to enhance skills in technology, design, music production, and digital entrepreneurship.
In his post, Ayotomiwa described the initiative as “a dream born among young, hopeful Nigerians,” adding that the project aims to make laptops more accessible through sponsorships, partnerships, and community support.
He wrote: “Our vision is simple but deeply powerful: to give young Nigerians, especially those passionate about tech, design, music production, and digital entrepreneurship, the tools they need to build their future.”
Responding to the appeal, Don Jazzy commended the project as “commendable,” noting that while 10,000 laptops is a huge goal, he was happy to contribute his quota.
Don Jazzy posted: “Bro I hail o. Your initiative is commendable. But sir, 10,000 laptops is not beans. At this time, I can only afford to support with ₦20 million and a repost. Hopefully, some other well-meaning Nigerians can help achieve the goal.”
The celebrated producer urged other philanthropists, organisations, and tech stakeholders to join the movement, emphasising the importance of digital inclusion and youth empowerment in Nigeria’s fast-evolving creative economy.
The Tech Access Project aims to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide by equipping young people with the tools and training needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven industries
