NIGERIA: Davido Aligns with Accord Party, Moves to Pick Membership Card in Osun Today

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced his decision to formally join the Accord Party, signalling his entry into partisan politics alongside his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The award-winning singer made the announcement via his verified X handle, stating that he would be in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to collect his Accord Party membership card at the party’s secretariat.
The Afrobeats Artiste,wrote: “I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ Imole House Osogbo tomorrow… see you soon accordingly.”
Davido’s move comes weeks after Governor Ademola Adeleke officially adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The Osun governor had publicly unveiled the Accord Party on December 9, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the party.
Governor Adeleke explained that his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party was informed by internal challenges within the party at the national level.
He said: “We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare.”
Davido planned appearance at Imole House in Osogbo to collect his membership card has since attracted widespread attention, further highlighting the growing intersection of celebrity influence and political participation in Nigeria.
