Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina has achieved a remarkable feat, emerging as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant.
The prestigious beauty contest, held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, saw Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, crowned the new Miss Universe. She succeeds Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, the winner of the 2023 edition.
This year’s competition marked the 73rd edition of Miss Universe and featured 126 contestants from across the globe, including 18 African nations such as Nigeria, Angola, and Egypt.
Adetshina, representing Nigeria, initially advanced to the top 30 finalists before making her way to the top five. She ultimately secured a spot among the top two contenders alongside Denmark’s Theilvig.
Chidimma qualified for the global pageant after winning the Miss Universe Nigeria title, representing Taraba State.
