NIGERIA: Asari-Dokubo Accuses Tinubu of Backing Wike To Destabilise Rivers
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Former Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo has accused President Bola Tinubu of supporting Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory minister, in efforts to destabilise Rivers State.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday monitored by our correspondent, Asari-Dokubo expressed disappointment in Tinubu, alleging that he has allowed Wike to pursue actions that threaten the peace in the state, including seeking a court judgement to remove Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.
Asari-Dokubo, a former President of the Ijaw Youth Council, voiced concerns about the situation in Rivers, stating, “For the President to allow his minister to run amok, procure judgement, and all sorts of things, threatening the people of Rivers State, it is disappointing.”
He claimed that Wike’s actions are creating unrest in the state and warned of potential consequences if Governor Fubara were removed, saying, “If you remove Fubara, something will happen. And that is it.”
As a prominent stakeholder in the Niger Delta region, Asari-Dokubo’s remarks reflect growing tensions and underscore local anxieties over alleged political manoeuvring aimed at shifting power in Rivers State.
