By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been involved in a serious road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals while the British-Nigerian fighter sustained minor injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred just before Danco Filling Station near Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound lane, when Joshua’s Lexus Jeep bearing registration number KRD 850 HN collided with a stationary truck.
The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation, with preliminary accounts suggesting a high-traffic section contributed to the tragedy.
Rescue operations were swiftly mounted, with Joshua extracted from the wreckage and confirmed to have escaped with minor injuries.
Two other occupants or individuals at the scene, however, died on the spot, according to reports from responders involved in the operation.
Images circulating online show the severely damaged vehicle and emergency personnel at the site.
Social media has been flooded with messages of concern and relief from fans worldwide, many expressing gratitude that Joshua survived relatively unscathed.
Local traffic authorities continue to probe the cause, though efforts to obtain official comment from Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
The accident highlights ongoing safety concerns on the busy Lagos-Ibadan corridor, one of Nigeria’s mosttravelled highways.
