A tragic case of domestic violence has shaken Anambra State, as police operatives arrested Christian Ndubuisi, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother to death during a heated altercation.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, described the incident as both “unfortunate” and “avoidable,” emphasizing the need for peaceful conflict resolution within families and communities.
According to a statement released by the state police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was apprehended on Saturday by officers attached to the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters following a distress report.
“On February 15, 2025, operatives acted swiftly on a report and arrested Christian Ndubuisi, who allegedly killed his elder brother over a minor disagreement,” Ikenga stated.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the disagreement between the siblings quickly escalated into violence, culminating in Ndubuisi breaking a bottle and stabbing his brother.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel upon arrival.
Reacting to the incident, CP Orutugu extended his condolences to the bereaved family, lamenting the tragic consequences of uncontrolled anger.
“It is heartbreaking that a simple disagreement could escalate to such a devastating level. This serves as a painful reminder of the importance of patience, conflict resolution, and anger management,” the commissioner stated.
The police confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation, assuring the public that justice will be served.
