Nigeria – Aisha Yesufu Slams Governor Obaseki Over Comments On Democracy

Aisha Yesufu, an activist and a strong supporter of Peter Obi during the 2023 Presidential election, has blasted Governor Godwin Obaseki over his broadcast regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission declaring the candidate of the All-Progressive Congress (APC), Monday Opkebolo, winner in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Edo state.
Recall that Governor Godwin Obaseki White reacting to the announcement declaring Monday winner of the election described the election as a tragedy and travesty of democracy.
He went on to express sadness over how the institutions that were charged with the protection of democracy are killing democracy.
Reacting to the broadcast through her ‘X’ account on Monday, she noted that she is looking for the broadcast where the governor was talking about the principles of democracy.
She went on to recall several controversial incidents under Obaseki’s administration, saying: “Obaseki refused for 4 years to swear in 14 Edo House of Assembly members. Obaseki that refused to swear in judges.
