Nigerian Afrobeats artiste Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has publicly expressed gratitude to God as he dedicates his newly acquired house.
In a heartfelt message shared via his official Instagram page, Spyro recounted how he was once written off by many in the entertainment industry due to his unique style and open declaration of faith.
He revealed that he faced ridicule and doubt, with critics suggesting that his career would not survive his branding as “Jesus boy.”
He wrote: “Two years ago, I was a write-off and sometimes I still feel like I am dreaming. How did I move from that to owning properties and living like this? Same me that many told wouldn’t last in this industry for tagging myself Jesus boy. Someone particularly asked me to check if anyone had ever done it and survived.”
Despite the criticism, the singer remained steadfast in his beliefs. He credited his transformation to the support of God, whom he described as Oranmonise Fayati, a Yoruba phrase meaning “The One who sends and supports.”
Spyro used the occasion to encourage individuals going through challenging times not to give up.
He further noted: “If you are reading this and life is lifing and you are tired already, please do not give up. Run to Him and stay with Him. He never fails.”
He also acknowledged the pivotal role of his spiritual mentor, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, whom he thanked for guiding him on his path to success.
