NIGERIA: Adeleke Confident As Osun LG Polls Begin Amidst High Voter Turnout

By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections, expressing confidence in a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
The governor arrived at Unit 9, Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, in Ede North Local Government Area, where he voted at exactly 7:56 am, accompanied by his supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking after casting his ballot, Adeleke commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission for what he described as a well-organized process.
He urged residents to participate in the elections without fear of intimidation, emphasizing that security agencies were on the ground to prevent any disruption.
The governor also called on political stakeholders to conduct themselves responsibly, warning against violence or any actions that could undermine the credibility of the polls.
Confident of his party’s chances, Adeleke predicted a sweeping victory for PDP candidates across the state.
“I want to urge everyone to come out and cast their votes. The election will be peaceful,” he assured.
The local government elections in Osun are being closely watched, as they are expected to test the popularity of the PDP-led administration under Adeleke.
So far, reports indicate a steady voter turnout across several polling units, with security personnel ensuring orderliness.
