NIGERIA: Adamawa Set To Crown 7 Newly Appointed Traditional Rulers In February

Adamawa State is set to go agog in the month of February wearing celebrative looks, as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri crowns seven newly appointed Chiefs and Emirs for Chiefdoms and Emirates recently created in the state.
Recall that recently, On December 23, 2024, in response to public outcry, Fintiri
created five chiefdoms and two emirates made up of four second-class and three third-class rulers.
Meanwhile those appointed include: Sani Ahmadu Ribadu (Emir of Fufore), Alheri Nyako (‘Tol Huba), Bulus Luka Gadiga (Mbege Ka Michika), Ali Danburam (Ptil Madagali), John Dio (Gubo Yungur), Aggrey Ali (Kumu of Gombi) and Ahmadu Saibaru (Emir of Maiha).
However, in a press release issued on Monday through the Seniour Special Adviser (SSA) Digital Communications to the Governor, Domiya Ijafiya, Fintiri announced that the coronation ceremonies for these traditional rulers will take place starting from February 5th – 20th, 2024 in their respective traditional headquarters.

The governor gave the dates as: Fufore Emirate – 5th February, 2025, at 10:00 AM, Yungur Emirate – 6th February, 2025, at 10:00 AM and Gombi Emirate – 8th February, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Others are: Maiha Emirate: 13th February, 2025, Hong Chiefdom – 14th February, 2025. Madagali Emirate -19th February, 2025 and Michika Emirate – 20th February, 2025.
These dates were announced by the governor on Monday, during his meeting with the newly appointed traditional rulers at the Government House.
The meeting marked the governor’s first official interaction with the monarchs since their unveiling.
In attendance of this meeting were the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Awwal D. Tukur; Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday; and all the newly appointed traditional rulers.
The governor used the moment to caution the traditional rulers to lead with integrity, fairness, wisdom, and accountability.
He also urged them to avoid tribal and religious sentiments within their domains, while emphasising that their primary responsibility is to serve the people “diligently and inclusively.”
He further cautioned them to “thoroughly study their territories and traditional systems to enhance their understanding and leadership capabilities,” the statement highlighted.
However, another point he emphasised on was the need to carefully take their time to study theory subjects and domains instead of rushing to appoint titleholders
“Work closely with district and village heads, ensuring that transparency and accountability remain at the core of leadership. Report suspicious activities or shady characters to appropriate authorities for necessary action,” the governor said.
