NIGERIA: 2027 Will Be APC Versus Suffering Nigerians, Not ADC – Okeh
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dr. Peter Okeh, has declared that the 2027 presidential election will not be a contest between political parties, but between the ruling All Progressives Congress and millions of frustrated Nigerians.
Okeh said Nigerians are tired of enduring the economic hardship, insecurity, and corruption under the APC-led government, and are rallying behind a new political force to end what he called “state capture.”
Speaking during a media chat in Abakaliki on Sunday, he described the newly formed coalition of opposition forces as a beacon of hope in a time of despair.
“The next election will be an election like no other — it will be an election between the APC and all the suffering Nigerians, home and abroad,” he said.
According to him, the growing support for the coalition stems from the intense poverty, hunger, and hopelessness Nigerians face daily.
Okeh said the coalition would no longer tolerate electoral manipulation, noting that Nigerians will be vigilant and determined to defend their votes.
He also hinted at the likely choice of a presidential candidate, expressing strong support for the former Labour Party flagbearer, Peter Obi.
He described Obi as the most viable option, citing his grassroots appeal and growing national presence.
“Peter Obi has all it takes to win the election. He has travelled more, connected more, and learnt more since the last election,” Okeh noted.
He added that denying the South a complete eight-year term would not sit well with many Nigerians, especially at a time when unity and fairness are key demands from the electorate.
Okeh said the 2027 election would be a defining moment in Nigeria’s political history.
