Napoli may be compelled to retain Nigerian star, Victor Osimhen, under the condition that new coach Antonio Conte does not utilize him, as uncertainties surrounding player transfers continue to evolve.
This situation arose after English Premier League club Aston Villa reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku. Despite this, Lukaku is only interested in a move to Napoli, where he hopes to reunite with Conte.
According to Il Mattino via CN24, Villa and Chelsea have a complete agreement for the Belgian forward. Chelsea is eager for Lukaku to finalize the move to Villa and has urged him to discuss terms. However, Lukaku remains focused on joining Napoli.
Currently training separately, Lukaku’s indecision has frustrated Chelsea, which is pushing for a swift resolution. Conte, also awaiting Lukaku’s arrival, is reportedly concerned about the ongoing situation.
Foot Italia reports that Conte might have to keep Victor Osimhen in the squad without playing him, as no resolution has been found for Osimhen’s departure. This unresolved issue is preventing Napoli from signing Lukaku.
Meanwhile, top transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated he does not expect any significant changes in Osimhen’s transfer situation this week. On his YouTube channel, Romano mentioned that all parties involved in the proposed transfer of Osimhen to Chelsea will use the rest of the week to consider different strategies for the deal.
“This week no changes expected. It is for all the parties to think of the situation,” Romano said.
Osimhen’s camp has dismissed a loan transfer to Chelsea, citing the potential pay cut for the player and its negative impact on Osimhen’s transfer market valuation, which is not in Napoli’s interest.
Romano added that it is more certain that Conte wants Lukaku. The Belgian star has already agreed to personal terms, including a three-year contract with the Serie A club.
