Ministry of Trade And Industry Hosts Presentation On Trade Legal Framework

The Ministry of Trade and Industry recently organised a significant presentation on Trade Legal Regimes, courtesy of the Premier Choice Law Group.
The event saw attendance from distinguished ministry officials, including Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang, Minister of Trade and Industry; Hon. Simon Nyang Anei, Technical Advisor; Hon. Ustaz Yel Luol Koor, Undersecretary of the Ministry; and the Director General.
The presentation was led by Advocate Diing Bul, Managing Partner of the Premier Choice Law Group, who discussed the importance of enhancing the legal framework to improve the welfare of South Sudan and assist in the completion of the WTO 173 Questionnaire.
This initiative represents a vital step in aligning South Sudan’s trade practices with international standards.
In her closing remarks, Minister Atong Kuol Manyang expressed her appreciation to the Premier Choice Law Group for their detailed presentation. She underscored the immediate need for reforms, asserting that “Trade cannot wait,” and pledged to take swift measures to address current challenges.
The Minister highlighted the obstacles facing the ministry, particularly in the realm of international trade, noting that the absence of a robust legal framework remains a significant barrier. She assured that the ministry is proactively developing competition legislation to tackle these issues effectively.
