Linessie K. Phiri has been selected as one of the Global Change Makers for the 2025–2026 Community Solutions Program (CSP), an initiative of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State.
She is among 65 young leaders chosen from more than 12,600 applicants representing 102 countries worldwide. The program is implemented in partnership with IREX.
Speaking to African Culture TV, Linessie expressed excitement over the global fellowship.
“This program will allow me to collaborate with a diverse group of global leaders, deepen my leadership skills, and bring back knowledge that will help empower more girls and women in Malawi,” she said.
The programme
involves a placement with host organisations in the USA, alongside an intensive, graduate-level leadership and development training curriculum.
While in the United States, she will be hosted by Girls Inc. of Chicago, where she will work with girls in the city and design a Community Action Project aimed at expanding her impact back in Malawi through initiatives for girls’ and women’s empowerment.
Linessie, who runs Girls Arise in Malawi, said the fellowship is a life-chan
ging opportunity.
